🎭 Ticket Giveaway: Death Comes to Pemberley 🎭

Fancy a night at the theatre? We’ve got two pairs of tickets up for grabs for the opening night of Death Comes to Pemberley at the Wycombe Swan – Tuesday 26th August, 7.30pm.

Six years after Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy's happy union, their idyllic life at Pemberley is shattered when Elizabeth's sister Lydia bursts in with shocking news: a man has been murdered in the woods, and suspicion falls on her husband, the notorious George Wickham. As the investigation unfolds, dark secrets emerge, tensions rise, and loyalties are tested, casting doubt on everyone's innocence.

• L’elisir d’amore (The Elixir of Love) at Garsington Opera in the Wormsley Estate on Friday 18th July at 6.20pm — expect romance, comedy, and glorious music in equal measure in this Donizetti masterpiece 🎼

• MAOS Goes Platinum at Lancaster Arts Centre on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th July — Marlow Amateur Operatic Society are celebrating their 70th anniversary with a collection of songs from shows they’ve performed over the past 70 years.

• A Taste of Summer: Organ Recital at Great Missenden Parish Church on Saturday 19th July at 6pm — a recital by Jonathan Lee, organist for Christ’s Hospital West Sussex, in a programme from Bach to Ian Farrington. Plus wine and canapés!

• Treasure Island by The Young Theatre at The Curzon Centre from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th July — an amateur production in the round, promising hilarity and even Greta Thunberg 🎭

• High Wycombe PSC Summer Fair Fundraiser at Downley Community Hall on Saturday 19th July from 1-4pm — bouncy castle, face painting, market stalls, food, and a donation station for clothes for Syria.

• Schools Out for Summer Party at The Full Moon Pub on Wednesday 23rd July from 12.30pm — mini disco, face painting, garden games and kids’ food.

• Widmer Farm Park Family Fun Day on Saturday 19th July from 10am-3.30pm — animal petting, nature trail, crafting, face painting and a ‘meet the bees’ session 🐝

• Life in the Dead Wood Ancient Tree Walk in the Windsor Estate on Wednesday 23rd July at 6.30pm — a guided walk and talk around The Dead Wood Trail, about conservation management and preserving life in the dead wood 🌲

🏃🏻‍♂️ Hughenden 10k and Half Marathon on Saturday 19th July at 9am — a scenic race through the beautiful grounds of the Manor and surrounding woodland.

- Junior Parkrun 2km on The Rye (meet at Pann Mill) at 9am on Sunday.
- Risborough Run In The Park 5km at Wades Park on Sunday at 9am.

VE/VJ Day 80th Commemoration Event at Wycombe Marsh Royal British Legion Club on Sunday 20th July from 2-5pm — entertainment, raffle, mini beer festival, bingo, quiz, wreath laying service and more.

Business News

The incredible Brunel Engine Shed is now available for hire as an event space. Whether you’re hosting a community event, conference, entertainment, live music gig, awards evening or private function, this beautiful historic building right next to the train station is definitely worth considering. In case you missed it, Wycombe is soon to get a Hotel Chocolat branch — complete with Velvetiser Café — and we can now confirm that it’ll be in the former Beaverbrooks’ unit in the Eden Centre. Not me counting down the days… 😋
