Sips, Sounds & Socials 🕺🏻

Plus free bacon butties, new walk, Mexican night, Harry Potter quiz, sound bath, pancake week and more...

Good morning, Wycombe!

It’s the Wycombe Pulse. Your local newsletter that’s just learned that today is National Small Dog Day.

So I’m dedicating this edition to Pancakes — my 14 year old Pom with a big heart and a weak bladder.

There’s lots of fun to be had in Wycombe this week:

  • Mexican Night at the Brickies 🌮

  • New walk through Bucks’ largest heritage asset 🚶🏻‍♂️

  • Kids’ picnic afternoon 🧺

Plus a bunch of live music and parties, plenty of activities for the kids, career focused events, loads of local sport to enjoy, and much more.

Rave Coffee roasts some of the freshest, most flavourful speciality beans you’ll find, delivered straight to your door.

We’ve been hooked on their coffee for a while now — nothing beats that just-roasted taste! The Chatswood and Mocha Java blends always hit the spot for us.

Our latest 1kg order from Rave: the Chatswood blend.

Want to treat yourself? New customers get £5 off the first order.

Thanks to Rave Coffee for partnering with Wycombe Pulse. 😊☕

Business News

Shop Jollof, an Afro-Caribbean supermarket, has opened on Frogmoor — next door to the Air Raid Café. Please make sure to support it if you can!

We’re sure you’ve heard by now that Wycombe’s 5th McDonald’s has opened its doors in the retail park on London Road. We’ve had a quick nosey around (aided by 2 Happy Meals and a McFlurry) and it’s slightly smaller than we expected, although there is some outdoor seating for when it’s warmer — there’s nothing like al fresco dining 😉

Community Notes

In memoriam: I was so sad to hear of the death of Colin Hingston this week — a stalwart of the High Wycombe community who will be greatly missed by many. I knew him to be incredibly kind, helpful and funny, and truly community minded. My condolences to his family and all those who knew him.

Marathon: Wycombe Homeless Connection have 3 FREE places in the Brighton Marathon 2025 on Sunday 6th April. You need to agree to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship, and you’ll have a dedicated point of contact in the fundraising team as well as a free running shirt with their logo.

Where in Wycombe Am I?

Who knows the significance of this colourful chap?

Answer from 2 weeks ago: this is the Clock House — an important educational site in the town when it was first built in 1893 and a striking town building looking down over Frogmoor. Originally it was the Institute of Science and Arts, where classes were funded by a beer tax, before becoming the Wycombe Technical Institute — a precursor to Bucks New University and an educator to many of the town’s furniture makers and local craftsmen. It has since seen life as a theatre, swimming baths, student accommodation and a dentist!
