✨ 46 Things To Do In Wycombe This Week

Plus ChatGPT roasts Wycombe, a family workshop giveaway, my radio debut, sunset sound bath, cigar festival and more.

Good morning, Wycombe!

It’s your weekly dose of Wycombe Pulse — freshly back from facing its fears and making its radio debut (more on that below 🎙️).

But first: there’s a lot going on locally, and we’ve rounded up the best of it, including:

🎁 A giveaway for a creative family workshop
🏥 A powerful talk on the healthcare crisis in Gaza
🤠 A good old-fashioned barn dance at Mad Squirrel

Plus: summer holiday ideas for every age, live music all over town, big nights out, and a few brilliant picks just beyond the Wycombe borders.

Looking for something fun, creative and screen-free to do with the kids this summer?

Images from Toni at Easely Does It

We've teamed up with Toni from the Easely Does It team to give away a pair of tickets to one of their magical family-friendly painting or crafting workshops at the Walled Garden in West Wycombe during the summer holidays.

Whether you're creating canvas masterpieces or crafting keepsakes, these sessions are a chance to slow down, get messy, and make something beautiful together. Perfect for a parent and child (or grandparent, godparent, aunt, uncle!) to enjoy a little one-on-one time and unleash your inner artists.

The winner gets to choose any upcoming Easely Does It workshop during the summer holidays (subject to availability).

🌟 To enter, just reply to this email with your name — that's it! 🌟
The giveaway will close on Wednesday 6th August and the winner will be randomly drawn on Thursday 7th August.

For Older Kids

For Really Little Ones…

The sleekest soft play in town, Clara’s Corner, have just expanded their offerings for the smallest kids by running their Under 2s sessions at 11.30am from Monday to Thursday. They’re a bit quieter than the regular sessions, and of course, no big kids charging round!

🧘‍♀️ Most Importantly… Time for You

Craving some adult-only time? Whether it’s mindful photography, floral arranging, or sourdough sorcery, here are some brilliant ways to reset and recharge:

🚨 Interesting Talk Alert 🚨

Digging Deeper: A War on Healthcare at Oxmoor Farm on tonight at 7pm — join Professor Nick Maynard for a talk on the current healthcare situation in Gaza, drawing on his own experience in the region. Ticket sales will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians.

🎙️ I was on the Radio 🤯

Earlier this week, the lovely Colin Besley at Wycombe Sound invited me onto his morning show to chat all about Wycombe Pulse. It aired yesterday — and if you’d like to hear me attempting to sound like a composed, media-trained grown-up, you can have a listen here (https://listenagain.wycombesound.org.uk/index.php/shows/mid-morning/ - I start waffling at 1:30:20 on the Wednesday 30th July feed).

Will I be listening back? Absolutely not. I have a deep-rooted aversion to hearing my own voice, which I can only describe as somewhere between startled meerkat and apologetic PE teacher. So please, no feedback unless it’s: “Wow, iconic voice. Give this woman a podcast.”

Bonus Blooper: my mum happily informs me that I’m introduced before the segment as “Steven”. I can’t tell you how many crying-laughing emojis she used. Going to aim for a higher pitch in future…
